Frequently Asked Questions

Can Vent Covers Be Wooden?

Absolutely. Whether it's ash, American cherry, hickory, walnut, red oak, or another species, wooden vent covers not only exist but elevate the look of any room. Flush mount wood vents have particular appeal because they sit level with your hardwood floor for a seamless, built-in look.

What Thickness Do Flush Mount Wood Vents Come In?

Our flush mount wood vents are stocked in ¾" thickness with a 5/8" rabbeted frame, sized to fit most ¾" tongue-and-groove hardwood flooring. Need something thinner? We also offer ½", 9/16", and 5/8" options as custom special orders (non-returnable, 3–4 week lead time).

Should I Install My Wood Vent Before or After My Hardwood Floors Go In?

We strongly recommend installing your flush mount wood vent during your hardwood floor installation, not after. Because the frame is designed to sit flush with the flooring, your installer can set it in place alongside the rest of the floor for the cleanest, most seamless fit.

How Long Do Wood Register Covers Last?

With proper care, wood vent covers can last for years right alongside your hardwood floor. Keep an eye out for signs of wear, and follow basic maintenance — dusting, avoiding standing water, and occasional refinishing — to extend the life of your cover.

Are Flush Mount Wood Vents a Good Idea?

Yes. Flush mount wood vents offer clean lines, reduced tripping hazard since there's no raised edge, and a finish that blends into your floor rather than standing out. Since they ship unstained and unfinished, you can stain or finish them to match your exact floor color.
